Areas at VISON

SWEETS VILLAGE

Produced by the pastry chef Hironobu Tsujiguchi, this café and restaurant features a cacao farm and a strawberry greenhouse. Try their freshly baked bread made from stone ground wheat or original sweets with their cacao and strawberries.

Marché VISON

This fresh food market is overseen by Ryuji Teshima, the owner chef of Pages in Paris, which has earned a Michelin star. The market features an abundance of delicacies from the land and sea of Mie Prefecture, including Matsusaka beef, Ise spiny lobster, abalone, and much more. Enjoy an outdoor barbecue on site with the items you’ve purchased.

HONZO AREA

This area promotes joint research between Mie University and Rohto Pharmaceutical in honzogaku, the traditional study of healing herbs and other natural sources. Its bathing facility offers seasonal herbal baths with original blends. There is also a medicinal herb garden and its Honzogaku Research Institute promotes health and beauty through honzogaku.

WA-VISON

Featuring restaurants run by some of Japan’s top, most inspired chefs, this area also features a studio and specialty stores selling traditional Japanese ingredients like kelp, bonito soup stock, soy sauce, and miso paste. It holds workshops where you can learn about Japan’s food culture and craftsmanship as well.

FARM

The facility’s organic farm practices permaculture, incorporating sustainable farming systems and design. The menu of its on-farm restaurant features ingredients from the grounds as well as from other local growers. It provides the opportunity to learn about food through various experiences and workshops.

San Sebastián St.

Along this restaurant row you’ll find menus created by international and Japanese chefs using local Mie ingredients. With shared ties to gourmet food, the town of Taki and city of San Sebastián signed a “certificate of friendship,” and one of the city’s popular bars has opened its first restaurant in Japan here. The bustling area has various lifestyle shops as well.

WOOD PLAY AREA

With a theme of "People, Trees and Enriching Times," this hands-on experiential facility conveys the joy of seeing, touching, learning about, and enjoying real wood and the forest. It offers new forms of learning for everyone from children to adults through its concept of “wood play.”

Atelier VISON

A pottery and cooking utensil museum produced by ceramicist Koichi Uchida, featuring items from Japan and abroad. It has attractive, highly functional items that can be used day-to-day and are available for purchase.

HOTEL AREA

In January 2017, San Sebastián, Spain, and Taki Town in Mie Prefecture, signed a "Gourmet Certificate of Friendship.” In that spirit, VISON has a bar that won the World Pintxos Competition and three bars recommended by the mayor of San Sebastián.

Rather than enjoying a leisurely meal at one bar, bar hopping is the way of the locals in San Sebastián. VISON will give you an authentic taste of the Basque region.
